About 80 thousand people were able to perform the first Friday prayer of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The first Friday of Ramadan coincides with an ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7.
Palestinians in the West Bank have not been allowed to enter Jerusalem except in special cases. Women under the age of 50 are not allowed to pray at the Noble Mosque. The Israeli army has also prevented ambulance crews from entering the Holy City. The Gaza Strip has been occupied by Israel since the Six Day War.
