The EU currently holds approximately 210 billion euros in Russian central bank assets. It is estimated that the asset could generate profits of up to 3 billion euros per year.

About 90% of the funds will be used for a special fund to provide weapons and ammunition to Ukraine; the other 10% will be included in the EU budget to support Ukraine's defense industry. Russia has repeatedly warned that the EU's actions can be called "robbers and thieves" and that the relevant proposals "undermine the foundation of EU law and international law"
