The documentary 'Dahomey', by Mati Diop, wins the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. "To rebuild we must first restore, and to restore we must do justice," Diop said when accepting the award for his documentary on the return of 26 works of art to Benin.

This is the second African film to receive the Golden bear (after the South African "U-Carmen e-Khayelitsha" by Mark Dornfor in 2005) The Silver Bear for Best Director went to 'Pepe', by Nelson Carlos de los Santos.
