The 1982 Hama massacre... the day Assad’s forces destroyed an entire city to confront an armed group.

It was carried out by several divisions and brigades of the Syrian army, led by the Defense Brigades. According to several accounts, it led to the killing of about 40,000 people and more than 17,000 are missing. The events of 1982 were not separated from the last two decades that preceded the massacre and what happened in Syria in general and the city of Hama in particular.
