Egyptian writer Tawfiq al-Hakim published Tafsir al-Qurtubi's interpretation of the Qur'an in 1977. He said he chose it because it was free of myths and delusions, which other interpretations were not free of.

He also said it was a book that would benefit the general public, benefit the elite, and bring the book closer to the people, as it contains enormous benefits, which no seeker of knowledge or lover of interpretation can do without. It is a reason due to the scientific and intellectual areas that are only understood by those who examine it closely.
