Sapiens and Neanderthals lived together in northern Europe for longer than previously thought. Homo sapiens reached northern Europe at least 45,000 years ago and coincided with NeanderthALS for thousands of years before their extinction.
It is one of the main conclusions of the research that an international team of scientists has carried out at the Ilsenhöhle site, in the town of Ranis (Germany) Their conclusions are detailed this Wednesday in three articles that appear in the journals Nature and Nature Ecology and Evolution.
