Employees at the Eiffel Tower in Paris have stopped work since the beginning of the week. The employees are demanding more money for the maintenance of the attraction.

Several unions have called for protests. The strike is raising concerns about wider protests that could paralyze the city and the Olympic Games in July and August in Paris. The city helped the municipal operating company with 60 million euros for the operation of the tower last year, according to the mayor's first deputy, Emmanuel Grégoire.
