A four-year-old girl died in a daycare center in Limburgerhof in the Rhine-Palatinate district. A police spokesman said the child was found lifeless there on Thursday.
An attempt was made to resuscitate the child - without success. The police initially did not provide any information about the course of events or the background to the emergency. The public prosecutor's office and the police began the investigation. The child's death was an accident, the police said.
