Last year, 7,200 people worked as a "Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team" that moved to rural areas and worked on revitalizing them. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has set a goal of increasing the number to 10,000 by 2026.

Hokkaido has the highest number of cases at 1,084, followed by Nagano with 461 and Fukushima with 313. Of the 11,123 people who completed their activities from the start of the system in 2009 to March of last year, more than half, 5,779, have settled in the same municipality.
