The largest family-owned companies generated $14.8 trillion compared to the previous ranking, up 02 percent. The index lists the 500 largest family businesses worldwide that have been run by a family for at least two generations.

The long-time leader is the retailer Walmart, followed by Warren Buffett's (92) holding company Berkshire Hathaway and the US retailer Cargill. The Schwarz Group from Germany slips to fourth place, the family holding company of the Italian Agnelli clan even completely out of the top ten.
