Rally calling for law reform regarding retrials “so that the hearings don’t take too long”. Retrial of Iwao Hakamada, who was sentenced to death for the murder of four members of his family in Shizuoka Prefecture 58 years ago.
It took more than 40 years for the trial to be redone, so the retrial was decided to avoid prolonging the trial. Rally held in Nagatacho, Tokyo was sponsored by the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, which aims to revise the law.
