More than 100 copper cables attached to rail joints on two JR lines in Yamaguchi Prefecture were cut and taken away. Police suspect theft as the damage was widespread.
Due to restoration work, the JR Ube Line and Sanyo Main Line had a major impact, with operations temporarily suspended. "Rail Bond" is a bundle of conductive wires used to send current to traffic lights, and both ends fixed to the rail were cut off and take away. Since the diameter of the "rail bond" is more than a few centimeters, JR is consulting with the police, as it is possible that a sharp tool was used.
