At the Miami Zoo, visitors were able to pet and photograph kiwis. This has now come to an end: Animal rights activists from New Zealand started an online petition against the mistreatment of their national symbol.
The zoo apologized for "the stress" caused by the video – and removed the bird's close-up encounters with visitors from the program. A special habitat will now be created for Paora to "continue to provide him with the protection he needs, while respecting and supporting his natural instincts"
