The architect is best known for his residential complexes in South Korea, the University of the Future in Hakodate in Japan and The Circle at Zurich Airport. Previous winners include Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, Norman Foster and Peter Zumthor. The prize is worth $100,000 and is considered the most prestigious in the architecture industry.
