Pritzker Prize: Riken Yamamoto receives the most important architecture award. The jury praised his sense of community, which plays an important role in his buildings.
The architect is best known for his residential complexes in South Korea, the University of the Future in Hakodate in Japan and The Circle at Zurich Airport. Previous winners include Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, Norman Foster and Peter Zumthor. The prize is worth $100,000 and is considered the most prestigious in the architecture industry.
