Bavaria is cutting art and music lessons – but not religion. There are said to be cuts in some subjects due to poor German and math performance.

The German Music Council is foaming at the mouth. The CSU has prevailed with its veto against any cuts in religious education. The move to "combine the creative disciplines and thereby devalue and cut them de facto is just as fatal as Markus Söder's populist proposals to halve the public broadcasting ensembles," complains Christian Höppner.
