The Supreme Court has given up until April 1st in a case in which a mother who was imprisoned for more than 20 years on an innocent charge sought compensation from the national government and Osaka prefecture. The decision was made to dismiss the mother's appeal, and the judgment was finalized denying the government's responsibility.

29 years ago, a house in Osaka's Higashi-Sumiyoshi Ward burned down, killing an 11-year-old girl. Her mother, Keiko Aoki, was charged with arson and murder, and was sentenced to life in prison.
