Defendant Shogo Kino (40) was sentenced to life imprisonment for assaulting four women one after another in Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture. In 2014, before he was arrested for a series of incidents, it was discovered that he had abducted and murdered another 20-year-old woman for indecent purposes.
The prosecution asked for the death penalty following the first trial, while the defense argued for innocence. The second trial began on the 16th at the Tokyo High Court, and Kina did not appear in court.
