From May 10 to June 1, the New York African Film Festival takes place in New York City. The festival has been running since 1993, and is the largest of its kind in the world.

The event is aimed at raising awareness of African cinema, as well as raising money for the cause of the African diaspora in the U.S. It is the first time the festival has taken place in the United States, and has attracted more than 6,000 people. The program includes films from around the world, and a variety of workshops for young people.
