Nagasaki Lantern Festival opens in conjunction with Chinese New Year, Spring Festival. Approximately 15,000 lanterns decorate the city of Nagasaki for 10 days.
Main object is 10m high and 4.5m wide, representing a carp jumping over waves and becoming a dragon. The Lantern Festival will be held for 17 days until the 25th of this month, and the executive committee is expecting a record 1.36 million people to attend during the festival. The event was held on a regular scale for the first time in four years due to spread of the new coronavirus.
