Terminally ill thief of Judy Garland's "Wizard of Oz" shoes won't go to prison. Terry Jon Martin stole shoes that have cult status among film fans.
He probably only has a few months left to live - in 2005 he would apparently have had to expect a significantly higher sentence. At the time of the theft, the shoes were insured for one million dollars, but according to media reports, the investigating authorities now estimate the market value at 3.5 million dollars. A total of four pairs of the red shoes that Garland danced in in “The Wizard of Oz” still exist today.
