Mike Johnson is the 56th Speaker of the US House of Representatives. An American conservative lawyer and politician, he was born in 1972 in Louisiana.
In his first speech as Speaker, he proposed a draft resolution supporting Israel in its war on Gaza. Johnson was a relatively unknown member until he played a pivotal role in promoting former US President Donald Trump's allegations regarding fraud in the 2020 presidential election. He was among 147 Republicans who voted to overturn the results of the presidential election, and led a team of lawyers who sought to cancel the election results.
