Media report: Ampel removes doctoral title from last name in passport and ID card. The doctorate is apparently moved to a different place on the identity card and passport - in order to avoid difficulties with foreign border authorities.
According to the regulation, the title should in future be entered in a newly created data field on the back of the ID card and in the passport. "The coalition has agreed on a procedure that takes up a central part of our criticism and clears up misunderstandings," said Green Party parliamentary group leader Irene Mihalic.
