Nagasaki Lantern Festival is held from February 9th to coincide with the Lunar New Year. One of the main events, the ``Emperor Parade'', is held on the 17th.
The parade is based on the image of the Emperor and Empress celebrating the New Year in the streets during the Qing Dynasty in China. This year, Masaharu Fukuyama, a singer-songwriter and actor from Nagasaki City, will play the role of Emperor. Riisa Naka, an actor from Higashisonogi Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, played the roles of Empress.
