On average, brides and grooms are always older when they get married for the first time in Germany. The average age is at a new high, said the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden.
In 2022, women were on average 32.6 years old and men 35.1 years old. The number of divorces has been falling continuously since 2012 - with the exception of 2019. A total of around 137,400 marriages were divorced in Germany in 2022. Almost every second adult is married or in a registered civil partnership.
