The Leipzig Zoo wanted to get rid of a zebra. Because there was no room, the stallion was finally slaughtered – and fed to lions.
The zoo rejects the public outrage about this. The stallion had a good life in the zoo – unlike many other animals from large breeds. Feeding it makes sense and is the right thing to do – if only because the meat is of good quality. The fact that aZebra is fed shows how low the importance of the animals are for zoo officials, criticized animal rights organization Peta.
