Kobayashi Pharmaceutical announces supply of red yeast rice raw material to approximately 50 companies, immediately discontinue use. People who ingested health foods containing the ingredients of ``red malt'' developed kidney disease.
Two of these companies have announced product recalls. So far, the company says it has no information on health hazards caused by the products of the companies it supplies to. The red malt raw material used in this health food is produced in-house, and of the 18.5 tons produced per year, 80% is produced by 50 domestic and overseas companies.
