Seven people, including mahjong store managers and employees, were referred to prosecutors for allegedly forcing customers to play illegal mahjong. The business owners are suspected of having customers play mahjong between 2012 and January of this year.

The store went out of business on the 2nd of this month, but it is believed to have generated sales of approximately 900 million yen over the past 11 years. In Tokyo, six gambling mahjong stores were arrested between 2021 and 2020, and the Metropolitan Police Department will continue to provide administrative guidance and conduct on-site visits.
