JR East to consider equipment maintenance with experts after power outage trouble. In January, the Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Joetsu Shinkansen trains were suspended for long periods of time due to power outages.

JR East's president, Yuji Fukasawa, announced that he would consider how to maintain railway equipment in the future, including with outside experts. The problem was caused by a break in the part that adjusts the tension on the overhead wires, which caused overhead wires to sag and cause damage to the running trains.
