JK Rowling criticizes a new law that punishes inciting hate based on transgender identity and challenges the Police to stop it. Rowling argued that, by passing the Hate Crime and Public Order Act in 2021, the Scottish Parliament "gave more value to the feelings of men who carry out their idea of femininity" The Scottish Government, for its part, has assured that it will legislate separately against misogyny.
The Scottish Executive, led by the pro-independence SNP, insisted that the objective of the law has been misinterpreted.
