A stuffed animal that was kept at the National Museum of Nature and Science is now believed to be an extinct Japanese wolf. A junior high school student in Tokyo was the first to notice that it might be a Japanese wolf, and after conducting research with experts, he recently published an announcement.

According to the research team, the Japanese wolf once lived widely in Japan, but it is believed that it went extinct about 100 years ago, and only a few taxidermy and fur specimens remain in Japan and overseas.
