From April 1st, Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward will fully subsidize the cost of the HPV vaccine, which is used to prevent uterine cancer, as it is effective in preventing cancer in men as well. The vaccine is said to help prevent oropharyngeal cancer and anal cancer when administered by men.

It is also said to protect women from infections caused by sexual intercourse. The target is male students from the sixth grade of elementary school to the first year of high school who live within the ward.
