Uli Hoeneß was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in 2014 after reporting himself for tax fraud. Former Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld stuck by the now 72-year-old Bayern Munich official - and also visited him behind bars.
The pair enjoyed a special meeting with chocolate in the prison. In 2016 he was released from prison early for good behavior, and in 2019 the Augsburg regional court gave him the remaining suspended sentence. The football teacher coached Borussia Dortmund from 1991 to 1997 and FC Bayern Munich from 1998 to 2004 and again from 2007 to 2008.
