Scientists at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden have discovered a way that could help find new therapeutic alternatives for impotence. The research, carried out in mice, demonstrates that fibroblasts play a key role in achieving penile erection, a function that was previously unknown.

A greater frequency of erections stimulates the proliferation of the connective tissue cells in the penis. The more erections, the more fibroblast cells, and, therefore, fewer erectile dysfunction problems.
