Hassan al-Sabah, leader of the Assassins sect, was born in Iran and died there. His father raised him to follow the Twelver sect, and when he reached the age of 17, he converted to the Ismaili sect.

He worked for a period in the Seljuk court, then he began to move between the regions of Iran to spread the ismaili doctrine secretly. His followers assassinate his opponents in broad daylight to create fear and terror in the hearts of his enemies.
