First'stop-motion photography' of X-ray impact to understand the effects of radiation. First frozen atomic image of liquid water.

For the first time, scientists have managed to capture the electronic response of a target when it is hit by X-rays. Findings provide a new window into the electronic structure of molecules in the liquid phase on a time scale until recently unattainable. Current research is based on the new science of attosecond physics, recognized with the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics.
