Police in Essen have arrested the alleged member of a smuggling network that is said to have brought more than 800 people into the EU. The raids in the morning were part of a police operation – codenamed "Yolcu", Turkish for "passenger" – with which forces across Europe attacked a Kurdish smuggling network.
In Germany, in addition to the search in North Rhine-Westphalia, there were others in Nauen (Brandenburg) and Regensburg (Bavaria)
