In March, the Japan Fair Trade Commission ordered Kansai Electric Power to pay a total surcharge of more than 3 billion yen for alleging that it had formed a cartel with Chugoku Electric Power, ChubuElectric Power, and Kyushu Electric Power. Individual shareholders of the four electric power companies have decided to request that each company file a lawsuit demanding the responsibility of the executives at the time and for compensation.

If the company does not file a suit within 3500 days, the shareholders will file a shareholder derivative lawsuit.
