Airbus employees discovered a seal pup on the banks of the Elbe and alerted the swan department in Hamburg. Now the young animal is to be fostered in the Friedrichskoog seal station.

The seal will be medically examined, nursed and, if successful, released back into the wild. The whelping and mating season for gray seals begins at the beginning of November and ends in January. The first young gray seals of the current birthing season were released into the North Sea at the weekend.
