Australian drag show performer Barry Humphries has died, aged 89. He had been hospitalized since February after falling and breaking his hip at home.
Humphries started performing as Dame Edna as early as 1955. His heyday was during the 1980s and 90s, when her purple hair, burdusa manner and salutation "Hello, possums" made her well known even in Sweden. He stopped performing with her just over ten years ago, but made a comeback periodically. The most recent time as recently as 2019 with another farewell tour in Australia.
