David Eliezer was a former chief of staff of the Israeli army. He was removed from his position due to accusations that held him responsible for Israel’s defeat in the 1973 war.

He led the storming of the Old City of Jerusalem in 1948, and assumed command of the northern forces that occupied the Golan in the setback. He died in 1976 at the age of 69. He is the father of Israeli politician Yossi Eliezers. He also has a son, Yossy, who was a member of the Kibbutz movement.
