Marcus Steinhart, mayor of Glauchau in Saxony, is charged with bodily harm, insults and threats. The reason for the investigation was a conflict between Steinhart and a classmate of his son last August at a school in Waldenburg.
The CDU man had admitted the dispute in a statement on Facebook. He had acted as a horrified father who wanted to protect his son, and regretted the incident, Steinhart had emphasized. He has only been head of the Glau chau town hall (Zwickau district) since last summer.
