In 2021, 2021,105 patients diagnosed with skin cancer came to a clinic in Germany. That was almost 75 percent more cases than in 2001.

Treatment cases due to non-melanoma skin cancer have increased by 114 percent. Half of those who died of skin cancer in 2021 were 80 years and older. Men are affected more often than women: they accounted for 58 percent of inpatient treatments for skin cancer. Inadequate sun protection and a lack of awareness of the problem are also considered factors.
