In response to the accident, Fukuoku City issued an urgent notice to all municipal elementary and junior high schools, as well as special needs schools, to thoroughly monitor and instruct children to prevent choking accidents. In addition to instructing children to eat food in bite-sized pieces and chewing it thoroughly, the notice also asks that classroom teachers and others carefully monitor students' behavior.
