The first semi-final of the Eurovision preselection failed to lead the night and did not meet expectations. The program only reached a 10.8% audience share and barely exceeded one million viewers on average.
According to the specialized press, the reasons behind the disaster in audiences could be two: the poor chosen schedule and the poor sound quality. María Eizaguirre, RTVE's communications director and very involved in the organization of the festival, had to come out and give explanations.
