The United States of America has great military weight in the Middle East. About 30,000 of its soldiers are permanently stationed in dozens of military bases spread in more than 15 countries in the region.

American forces receive extensive facilities, the right to use airspace, ports, airports, and camps, and access to fuel, maintenance, and weapons storage services. The United States aims through its military presence to protect its interests, eliminate what it calls “terrorist groups,” support its allies, conduct military training and maneuvers and provide advice.
