Al-Hasan Ibn Al-Haytham was born in Basra and died in Cairo. He was one of the three Arab scholars in the early 11th century AD, along with Ibn Sina and Al-Biruni.

Europe knew him as “Al-Hazen,” and it exalted the value of his scientific research. His book “The Views” immortalized his name over the centuries, and remained the approved reference in the West until the 17th century.
