Rucheng Incense Dragon is a kind of traditional dragon dance. It originated from traditional sacrifices during the Hongdao period of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty.
It has been passed down from generation to generation in various villages and towns in Rucheng County. It is performed every night before and after the Lantern Festival during the New Year. Residents along the way go out of their homes one after another, light candles and set off firecrackers to "cater the dragon" and pray for a prosperous new year.
