Huizhou ink gets its name from the fact that it was produced in ancient Huizhou Prefecture. Shangzhuang ShangZhuang Village is the hometown of Hu Tianzhu, one of the four masters of Hui ink in the Qing Dynasty.

The sisters’ father, Hu Jiaming, was the director of an ink factory and the municipal intangible inheritor of HUI ink production skills. In 2009, Hu Yinghua seized the opportunity of e-commerce and moved the ink factory online, becoming the first time-honored ink brand to open an online store.
