The UN Security Council adopted for the first time a resolution demanding an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza. The United States ultimately abstained, allowing the Council to adopt the resolution with the votes of the remaining 14 members.

Benjamin Netanyahu finally announced that he will not send an Israeli delegation to Washington, as planned. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has announced, through its head, that it is now formally banned by Israel from any delivery of food aid to the north of the Gaza Strip.
