Russia and China have vetoed an American resolution at the UN emphasizing the "need" for an "immediate" ceasefire in Gaza. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken landed in Israel and met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to try to secure a truce deal.

Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed his intention to carry out a ground offensive in Rafah even if the United States were not to support it. The Israeli government also announced the seizure of 800 hectares of land in the Jordan Valley, in the occupied West Bank.
